Yu Televentures, the Micromax subsidiary, has today announced the postponement of the launch of its flagship smartphone, Yu Yunicorn to May 31. As earlier announced by the company and the invitations sent for the launch event of its flagship smartphone, the launch date was set previously set to be Thursday of this week. The company said the reason for the postponement of the flagship smarpthone’s launch is the launch would clash with the elections that are due on the same day in five states across India.
In an announcement today, the company said the new launch date of its flagship smartphone, Yu Yunicorn, is May 31, and will be unveiled in an event in New Delhi.The teaser that was released earlier this month, setting the launch date as Thursday says the flagship smartphone would be priced competitively for the market.
The flagship smartphone, which is confirmed to run on Android with a deep integration of Around Yu, is expected to be sold into the market only through online channels. Around Yu is a service aggregator platform that was released into the market in the previous year along with the Yutopia smartphone.
The company has also provided the community developers the opportunity to contribute to its source code, through detailing its “Project Highway”.
Speaking about the new Yu Yunicorn smartphone, Rahul Sharma, the company founder had previously said, “It’s insanely beautiful and it will break some hearts. It will break records, it will break the conventional, it will break the rules…WAIT, it will break the flagships.”
Speaking about the upcoming flagship, Sharma had said that, “The Company would focus on offering “pure Android experience,” and Around Yu will come with some new features.”
