There’s a new alphabet in town, and it’s dominating the world! Last Monday, the 10th of August 2015, Google has announced a corporate restructuring. Google has decided to form an umbrella company called Alphabet. According to Larry Page, the new CEO to the core business of Google will be Pichai Sundararajan. Pichai, an Indian better known as Sundar Pichai, has worked for Google for 11 years now. He was most recently the senior vice president of the company. People have high expectations not just with the new CEO, but with Alphabet itself. Larry Page, whom co-founded Google Inc. with Sergey Brin, and the future CEO and owner of the proposed conglomerate Alphabet Inc., has brought excitement to the whole industry. The company has set a high supposition for people. After this shocking announcement, people was left with one question: “What is Alphabet?”
Alphabet will now operate as the new parent company for number of smaller companies Larry and Sergey have supported. This includes the popular Google, Google X, Fiber, Calico, Nest, Google Capital, and Google Ventures. As expected, Google will still continue to focus on Internet products. The subcompanies of Google such as Android, Youtube, search, apps, maps and ads, will remain the same. Larry Page is confident that the independent companies of Alphabet will be supported by strong CEOs. Nest will be led by Tony Fadell, Sidewalk Labs will be by Dan Doctoroff, Calico will be by Arthur Levinson. Meanwhile, Youtube CEO Susan Wojcicki will now report to Google’s new CEO, Sundar Pichai.
Alphabet Inc will surely conquer the world. It is more likely to own several big and contributing companies. As stated, the new company will be based in California. Sergey Brin will also head this company so they assure that they will still do crazy things that will change the world. Alphabet’s portfolio will spread through a wide spectrum of industries. This includes technology, life sciences, investment capital, and even research. A lot of people have been wondering how this will change and affect the whole industry, but the answers were still not clear. However, what is certain about this news is that Alphabet will be heading our world and it will make a lot of improvements.
Alphabet will serve as a collection of companies, that’s for sure. Larry Page said they were able to form the name “Alphabet” because it is a collection of letters that represent language. Alpha means ‘investment return above benchmark’ which is what they are striving for, that’s why Alphabet was the name they came up with. Now that Alphabet is established, this will allow more management scale as they run things independently. I think the purpose of Alphabet is to stream down and make sectors clearer for people and staff. We should see how this will impact the contributions of the companies to us, and I am hoping this will help them to be able to give more.
Alphabet has launched their website, abc.xyz. They are now using .xyz as the new top-level domain; this was rolled out in 2014. Larry Page and Sergey Brin decided to overhaul Google and make it a subsidiary because they want cleaner and more accountable management. Alphabet will include Google’s X Lab which is known for creating amazing products like Google Glass, Wing, and drone delivery projects. The event is still ongoing so there are still more surprising and unexpected changes. This will definitely keep the people’s attention as we find out more about the restructuring means in the next coming days and weeks.
