Wow! Gmail has officially declared an “undo send” email option that helps in retrieving the embarrassing emails sent to the wrong email addresses.

If you have accidentally sent a confidential and informative message via Gmail to some wrong email address or have selected a reply-all option in an email threading to numerous parties, here’s a good news: “Undo Send “email tool by Gmail that can help you in preventing massive social embarrassment. Isn’t it cool? This feature can recalls emails after sending and is applicable to all Gmail inbox apps and the web accounts.

For initiating this facility and availing benefit of it, you first have to click “Settings Menu”, then simply click on the “Enable Undo Send” function under the under the “General Tab”.

After activating the “Undo Send” option, users can annex up to 30 seconds defer to send mails. The tool allows users to have 5, 10, 20 or 30 second cancellation window to choose the timing according to their will or need.

Once the email is sent, a message “your email has been sent” will be displayed on the top in a “yellow tab” of the inbox along with “Undo” option to use if required.Once the “Undo Send” tool is hit, message will be transformed into draft mail. In fact, Google just created a mid-server and set a standard hold time for the email to reside before moving it forward to its intended recipient. You can just withdraw the sending within the time limit.

If you have undo a particular email-within the specified time limit-the message will not be sent and it reopens the email in compose window where you can edit or delete it.

However, it cannot be called as a new feature in Gmail. Earlier, the same tool was launched in 2006 by Google to facilitate emails. But it was taken back by Google after a short time as it became a fun-game. People experimented this feature as so crazy that Google server faced a bog-down. With some improved limitations the feature has been relaunched again.

A positive reaction was followed from social media and desire for some more “Undo” features was called by its users.

Once the “Undo Send” feature is switched on, it will be enabled to all upcoming future emails until it is turned off.

The “Undo Send” tool works well in the same way while using inbox apps where it appears in the bottom right corner rather than at the top of the screen.

However, the Gmail ‘Undo’ feature is not available for companies that are using Gmail Apps and have their email associated @ their personal domain rather than @gmail.com. Still the idea is being welcomed by the tech-savvies.

So, at last we can conclude that the amazing “Undo Send” email tool will prove itself to be very helpful and the secure option as it allows Gmail users to cancel the sent email if they are sent to wrong persons or they have second thoughts in their minds immediately after the mail is sent.
