Steps to Reset Your Chromebook

Chromebooks are quite the simple devices that we have today. There are very few times when these actually pose a problem. In case these does then there are some steps that you urgently need to take. Steps to follow prior to a full reset

Prior to opting for a reset there are just few things that you must try. Firstly turn off every Chrome extensions one by one. each time you close an extension, see if Chromebook is working well. At times the only thing you need to do is power down your hardware which resets your keyboard and touchpad. Also, you need to delete some files in your Downloads folder which can be the potential cause of problem. All you need to do is, switch off the Chromebook, press Refresh plus Power. If the problem is not solved then resetting the entire Chromebook is the only solution.

Steps to reset Chromebook using shortcut keys

Note that if you reset your Chromebook, then you have all the back up of the data that you want safe because resetting will wipe your hard drive. This includes settings, apps as well as files. So, prior to beginning the process of resetting ensure that you sync your settings with Google account and then back up the important files to your Google Drive. First of all you need to Sign out of your Chromebook. Now press and hold on Ctrl plus Alt plus Shift plus r at the same time. Now press on  Restart which will open a dialogue box  where you need to click Reset. Here you are supposed to Sign in with the Google account that you have for which you need to follow the steps to set up a new Chromebook. Ensure that the problem for which you opted to reset has been solved.

Steps to reset Chromebook in Settings

Ensure that you have sync your settings to Google account. Also, make it a point to back up any important files to the Google Drive prior to resetting your Chromebook. You need to click the area that lies in the bottom-right corner and then on cog next to Lock so as to go into the Settings. After clicking on the hamburger menu icon, that is there on the top left press Advanced and then on Reset settings. Here, you need to click on Powerwash which ill open a dialogue box where you need to press Restart. Now you are supposed to Sign in using your Google Account and follow the steps in order to set up a new Chromebook.
