LG India launches flagship LG G5 smartphone

As reports suggested earlier today, LG has launched its flagship LG G5 smartphone in India, at an event in Gurgaon. The smartphone which is priced at Rs. 52,990, will be available for exclusive sale in online retail through Flipkart, and in offline all retail stores all over the country. The smartphone has been through many pre-bookings via Flipkart since last week.

The highlighting features of the LG G5 smartphone are the modular ecosystem and accessories called LG Friends, the prices of which are not yet revealed. The LG Cam Plus is a module which is a camera add on that includes physical buttons for camera operations. Other module is the expansion of the capacity of total battery to 4000 mAh.

The Hi-Fi Plus module is a portable Hi-Fi DAC on the smartphone that can be used to enable 32 bit audio playback through a standalone portable DAC or with the G5. This module is co-developed by LG and Bang & Olufsen. Accessories expected to be unveiled include the LG 360 VR headset, LG 360 Cam camera, LG Rolling Bot, LG Tone Platinum, H3 by B&O Play, LG Smart Controller, and LG Friends Manager.

Coming to the specifications, the LG G5 is a dual-SIM enabled smartphone, runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, features a 5.30-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display with a pixel density of 554ppi. The smartphone is powered by a 2.15GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC that is paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD card (up to 200GB).

The G5 sports a 16 MP rear camera with laser autofocus, and an 8 MP front camera. It is powered by a 2800mAh removable battery, measures 149.40×73.90×7.70mm and weighs 159 grams.
