Google Messenger app is here, runs on Android versions 4.1 Jelly Bean and above

Are you bored of using the same Hangouts, over and over, for your SMS and MMS needs? Then, don’t worry! Now, with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google has introduced a new messaging application for your SMS and MMS needs. And, this app features a Material Design. And the good news is that, you can download and install it on your device, from today itself, from Google Play Store.

With the release of Android Kitkat almost a year ago, the Google Hangouts app has been developed from a simple web mail service, and later became an integrated SMS app. The app is installed on the Nexus range phones by default and has to be used for sending and receiving SMS messages, much to the despise of some users.

Now, regretting the lack of choice to its users, Google is now introducing Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 with Android 5.0 Lollipop and as well the brand new SMS application, called Messenger. The new SMS application Messenger will be available for all devices that run Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean and above.

The features of the Messenger application include:

1.Faster sharing: Select or take pictures and videos directly from the app and share easily. You can even send audio messages to your contacts.
2.Easy search: Search through contacts and conversation threads to find exactly what you are looking for.
3.Purposeful design: New, fluid, material design that is intuitive and delightful.
4.More control: Ability to block SMS senders. No interruptions when you don’t want them!
5.More features: audio messages, emoji support, colored text threads, message archiving and more.
