Battle for greatness: Moto G 3rd Gen vs. Xiaomi Mi 4i

Moto G 3rd Gen vs. Xiaomi Mi 4i

Which one is better and which one should you buy

A lot of people have been asking which smartphone should they buy ever since the reviews for Moto G 3rd Gen and Xiaomi Mi 4i has been published. Xiaomi Mi 4i is the latest Motorola in India. Its 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage variants of the two smartphones merely cost Rs.12,999. The comparison is definitely acceptable. Now, we will make a head to head comparison in Xiaomi Mi 4i and Motorola’s Moto G 3rd gen in terms of 1) Design, 2) Display, 3) Software and Performance, 4) Camera and battery life, 5) Extras, and 6) Verdict.

In terms of Design, the build quality has no major issues. The grip of Moto G 3rd gen is better tha Mi 4i. However, the clean design of Xiami is preferable than G 3rd gen. Both has non removable battery but Mi 4i has lighter and sleeker than G3rd gen.

When it comes to the display, I can say Xiaomi Mi 4i wins 🙂 . It is comfortable and easy to use. Although both phones have 5 inch screens, Mi 4i packs in full HD display compared to 720p panel of Moto G 3rd gen. While Moto G 3rd gen comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, Mi 4i features a custome solution from same level of protection.

Software and performance of the smartphones are very important. It is important to know that Xiaomi Mi 4i is powered by octa-core processor. Moto G 3rd gen has Snapdragon 410 that just four cores. The more cores smartphone doesn’t technically says it has better performance, but it can have your phones running as different softwares. Motorola runs near stock Andriod 5.1.1 Lollipop, and Xiaomi phones, like other phones, runs in MIUI. This is a highly customized version of Andriod.

In terms of specifications, the two smartphones have identical 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front cameras. Both have the ability to capture image in a high quality. Moto G 3rd gen outshines Xiaomi Mi 4i when taking pictures outdoors because it captures imagers more in detail indoors and in low light. The low light performances of the cameras are not as expected though. The Xiaomi Mi 4i has bigger battery.

Xiaomi Mi 4i has extra software features ,One of these is the app  Permissions Manager. Permissions Manager allows the user to control what resources each app has access to. Android M, also known as Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings this feature to Android smartphones as well. Mi 4i and the MIUI has huge advantage however. Mi 4i comes with Sunlight Display and works in subtle for most users.

Mi 4i ships faster 802.11ac WiFi, but you would more likely to upgrade your phone before routing because it needs to support the standard. On the other hand, Moto G 3rd generation has some extras. These extras have wider appeal. It comes with an expandable storage. It is also with IPX7 water resistance.

Being the one to make a review, I personally believe that Xiaomi Mi 4i scores higher in terms of design and display, but Moto G 3rd gen manages to perform better. The battery and camera performance are both their weakness. If you are looking for a smartphones that function well, I think these two are better. How about you? Which one do you prefer?
